ArcAttack! Musical Tesla Coils

Arcattack

Austin band ArcAttack! performs at Maker Faire Bay Area 2010 with their musical tesla coils.

ArcAttack! employs a unique DJ set up of their own creation to generate an ‘electrifying’ audio visual performance. The HVDJ pumps music through a PA system while two specially designed DRSSTC’s (Dual-Resonant Solid State Tesla Coils) act as separate synchronized instruments. These high tech machines produce an electrical arc similar to a continuous lightning bolt and put out a crisply distorted square wave sound reminiscent of the early days of synthesizers.

ArcAttack! is an Austin born, high tech performance group. They’ve been working together since 2005. The group members are Joe DiPrima, Oliver Greaves, Tony Smith, John DiPrima, Patrick Brown and Craig Newswanger.

  1. Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive learn something like this before. So nice to seek out any person with some authentic thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for beginning this up. this website is something that is wanted on the net, somebody with just a little originality. useful job for bringing one thing new to the web!

  2. I have read several good stuff here. Definitely worth bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how much effort you put to make such a great informative website.

  3. I have seen them live before. The only spkeears used are for guitars. The tesla coils are an actual instrument. I saw these guys with smaller tesla coils 3 times in 2009 during the hot summer days. The lights were turned off, and the stray bolts would go towards the ceiling and light up all of the halogen and other bulbs just like the ones on the ceiling. The tesla coils produce changes in air pressure when the electricity is released into the air as he mentions. Must see live.

  4. Thank you so very much for the kind words! We at Arcattack are very proud to be Austinites and are happy to represent the Do it Yourself cmimunoty as well as doing what we can to keep Austin weird. First Night was a very special event for all of us and we are so very glad that you came out and shared it with us!
