I’ve bought this TT in working condition, but still it needed thorough cleaning, set-up automatic mechanism and wiring. I gave the old fart proper groom.
Original cables has been rotten, cheapo Neutrik connectors (which IMO useless) hard wired to tonearm. Cables has been hanging on PCB, therefore path has been ripped off.
New RCA connectors added + nice looking power cable. Now I can fiddle with phono cables.
Between tonearm and RCA connectors Klotz IY106 Professional Instrument Cable used.
Of course RCA plugs Neutrik used.
I took it all apart and put it together again.
Automatic TT is a great thing, plays and stops with press of button.
Temporary Audio Technica AT95 MM cartridge equipped with. This kind of TT deserves better food, so it get Ortofon 2M Black MM cartridge later.
It really sounds great, resonance frequency is about 9.5kHz.
First platter and tonearm taken off. Tonearm examined, cleaned, greased where needed and screws tightened
As you can see contact from PCB is coming off
Better pictures… people thinking, that old turntables are not good, but it ain’t true, as you can see.

Hi, I have just bought a 600x in really nice condition. The only trouble is the top plate has sunk badly and actually touches the base in places. Do you think I need new springs, or is there a fair level of adjutment possible. If so, how do you make the adjustments? Hoping you can help.
Regards,
Paul
You have to take it apart and have a look at springs. Adjustment is made by unscrewing feet and then screw plastic counter-nut on it. Pretty simple but annoying.
How did you like the ortofon cartridge?? I have a pl-600. It has an empire on it. Looking to upgrade it!
What is your budget?
Hello, my step father just gave me one of these TT. I don’t see the pics of the restoration. Any help would be appreciated. The auto part doesn’t work. The repeat button lights up but nothing happens. Same with the up/down feature. Thanks again
