Fake Van Den Hul D102 MkIII

I have come across to fake copies of interconnect Van Den Hul D102 MkIII. They are easy to purchase on various Ebay websites. Most of the people who offer these products are living in (the vicinity of) Hong Kong. The products are always offered without the original box and are mostly packed in a black bag with our copied logo on it. The inside of the cable is of very low quality and quite often completely different from the original. Buying such a cable is at your own risk and basically illegal. Please also be aware that an offer that is too good to be true most of the time is exactly that: too good to be true.

Few pictures of it. As you can see plugs are ridiculous el-cheapo cheapest as chip from REAN – Neutrik’s cheap brand. They don’t even manufacture them anymore. Print is coming down when rubbed with thumb. Someone would cry looking at pig-like soldering and all that fake feeling underlining stickers with directional arrows. It seems to be balanced microphone cable, kinda like one from Klotz company.

Of course not everything from Hong Kong is bad, but please be aware and rather support your local dealer.

  1. Hi

With all respect, these are not fake cables. These are genuine VDH cables DIY, with REAN connectors. Nothing strange actually. I found these on ebay too and it is clearly stated that the cables are terminated with REAN connectors. The print and the cables themselves are genuine. I have also VDH-terminated d102 cables and everything except the connectors is exactly the same.

    • Obviously you are the seller. For me they are not original as long as they don’t have original termination. Van Den Hul actually warning customers on his website.

      • No, I am not the seller but I am the owner of two pairs of similar cables! What I was saying is that the cable itself is original. D102 is sold on reel and there is nothing strange with cables being terminated with other connectors than VdH original as long as you do it according to the VdH recommendations. As far as I have seen these cables are professionally terminated and up to the same stanard as VdH original termination. This means that the sound quality won’t be compromised or jeopardized. I can assure you there is no difference in sound quality between originally terminated VdH cables and these.
Could you please give us the link to the site where VdH is warning customers?

      • Did you compare em with original ones? its hard to tell if the cable itself is genuine or not….I have those ones as well.

  2. it is hard to know if the cable is original or not….the best way to do it would be listening to the cheap and the expensive (assuming thats genuine) one.
And where is the link to buy reels from van de hul?
    thanks

  3. Well, Ive got pair of these as well and have to say they are diffidently worth the money🙂
VdH sells d102 mk3 by the roll so why somebody may not make his own interconnects?
Reans NYS352G connectors sit tight, they do the job as they should.
    £19 vs genuine £140? Obvious choice🙂
Support local dealer? Stop selling overpriced hifi gear then we will start supporting you🙂
