A $28,000 Pick Up Arm?

Listen to the $28,000 Swedish Analog Technologies Arm fitted with a $15,000 Air-Tight PC-1 Magnum Opus cartridge on a Continuum Caliburn turntable. Phono preamp is the Ypsilon VPS-100 with MC 10L step up transformer. The recording is the recently released Copland “Fanfare for the Common Man” and “Third Symphony” (Reference Recordings RM-1511 200g edition with Eiji Oue conducting the Minnesota Orchestra. The recording engineer is, of course, the great Keith O. Johnson. Worth picking up for both the music (considered one of the best interpretations of these pieces) and the spectacular sound.

  1. Tonally OK, but how can you stand the pitch variations? Looks like the LP may be warped. $28K just for the arm? I think I’ll stick to CDs….
